I am a recovering lawyer-turned-children’s-book writer and mom to two energetic boys, to whom I get to read to every night—and torture with my manuscripts. I am a California native, though I spent my formative summers in Mexico, where my parents are originally from.
My stories and art mine my past, explore issues of identity, and reflect my love of Mexican culture and my appreciation for the natural world.
I have navigated both cultures throughout my life, which has enriched my writing. I now live in the Pacific Northwest with my husband and kids, soaking up all the natural beauty it has to offer. I’m a bit of a fish out of water, but I think it makes for lots of good story ideas. I am currently working on several picture books, both fiction and nonfiction, as well as a middle grade novel.
